Car and home insurer AAMI has requested that all policyholders affected by yesterdays storms across NSW contact them immediately on their 24hr emergency line.

"AAMI is operating its 24-hour hotline, 13 22 44, on which customers can lodge claims directly over the phone hotline with no forms to fill out," AAMI NSW Corporate Affairs Manager Mike Sopinski said.

"The sooner customers lodge their claims, the sooner we can assess the damage and arrange repairs."

"As soon as possible after customers make a claim, AAMI assessing staff will be on the ground to assess damage to cars and homes, so that we can commence the repair process."

Severe storms hit NSW yesterday with gale force winds of over 100km/h reported.
